Cover Stories was a game jam / minicomp* for artists and creators of interactive fiction. In the first stage, artists created or sourced images that they thought would make good covers for an IF game; in the second, authors chose covers and wrote games suggested by them.

All the submitted covers (including many awesome ones which I am very sad didn't become games) can be seen at smallwhitehouse, courtesy of Mark Musante. The original thread on the intfiction.org forums includes boring details about the organisation and rules of the event. The call for art went out on April 17; authors chose art starting on May 6; games went into a betatesting phase on May 26; and coding ended on June 10, 2012.

There were twelve entries. For now, you can download all of them from here (except Darkness in Daytime, which is resolving some last-minute bibliographic issues).

* Minicomp seems to be a distinctly IF word, if not quite uniquely so. It can mean a literal competition, but more often it's a noncompetitive event. It might be considered a synonym for 'game jam', except that a minicomp stops being a minicomp if it's held regularly (thus, Introcomp is not usually counted as a minicomp), there's an expectation that minicomp entries be tested, and Speed-IFs are not minicomps either. I suspect that this usage can be traced back to Lucian Smith.
