August, 2003
Neil (Grocible on ifmud) and Jennifer were getting married. Again. They'd had one marriage for the INS, and another for the immediate families, but they also wanted one for all their friends. Since they were holding the wedding in Vancouver, we figured this gave us an excuse to visit a few places in the Pacific Northwest area before and after the actual event.
So first of all, we flew to Vancouver.
We had a little free time before our bus connection, so we took a photo from Canada Place, on the seafront. Vancouver seemed promising.
But first we visited Seattle. This is a view from the top of the Space Needle, which seemed like an obligatory stop to make. It turns out that views from the Space Needle don't look much like Seattle, because, well, they don't have the Space Needle in them.

More views from the Space Needle.
Pretty though the views were from the Space Needle, we did also want to visit other bits of Seattle. And we did. We went to Pike Place Market with Emily, and utterly failed to take any photos. We had dinner with a whole bunch of mudfolks, and didn't take any photos of that either.
We also went to Fremont, guided on the insane public transport system by mamster. We remembered to take a few photos there. Fremont has a pretty harbour.
While we were in Fremont, mamster showed us the famous troll under the bridge. It's pretty huge.
Iain and mamster perched on the troll.
Personally, I thought the bridge itself was quite pretty, but then I like bridges.
Fremont has a lot of public art. I liked the bus stop statues a lot, though again we somehow failed to photograph them. We did take a shot of this statue of Lenin before we left, however.
In a remarkably short time, it was time for us to bid a temporary goodbye to our hosts and go back to Vancouver.
