Gaston Lecroq

ROMANCE NOVEL COVER ARTIST
and
MARQUIS OF REFLECTION

"Mon dieu, mais je deteste le Romance Novels! Je suis un artiste!"

By day, Gaston scrapes a living as an illustrator -- he makes most of his money from occasional romance novel cover jobs, which he hates with a fiery gallic passion. He's great at copying the models' poses, but they don't let him put in all the warts and blemishes which would make it a true depiction of reality. By night, he seeks perfection in his Art: an utterly faithful depiction of Nature in all its glory. He keeps doing the romance novel cover art partly because it's the only way he can eat, and partly because of the model he usually works with -- he's tried to persuade her to pose for a nude study, but she's a very scrupulous young woman and finds the idea quite alarming. He quite often experiments with mind-altering substances, in an effort to perceive reality more clearly, and as a result has a mild addiction to absinthe. He is 23 years old.

(Note: where it makes sense, I'm going to claim that my domain of Reflection covers things like introspection and echoes as well as the obvious mirrors and the like.)

Appearance: Human, tall and gangly. Penetrating eyes with mirrored pupils, but usually has unhealthy dark rings around his eyes too.
