| We like playing interactive fiction. This fancy term (popularised by Infocom, inc.) really just means "text adventures". The days when dozens of companies sold text games commercially are long gone, but there's still an active online community of fans and game writers, arguably producing better work than the games companies ever did.
Baf's Guide is a great place to start exploring modern IF. Here are some of our contributions: |
| HyperTADS
This is a freeware Mac application for playing TADS games. |
| Romance Novel Comp
In 2002, Storme ran a competition for IF games written in the style of romance novels. |
| Forever Always
This was Iain's entry in Romance Novel Comp. It's written in TADS 3, so you can play it on Macs with HyperTADS. |
| AAS
On the first of April 2003, the Advanced Authoring System was launched on an unsuspecting world. |
| If this has whetted your appetite for IF at all, you should take a look at feelies.org, where you can get attractively packaged copies of lots of excellent IF games for very low prices. We had a hand in setting this up, but the main credit goes to Emily Short and Gunther Schmidl. |
